Drivers Licence and Minimum Age
A valid national drivers licence is required. National drivers licences, which are not in English, need to be presented in conjunction with an offical translation or valid international drivers licence. The minimum driver age is 21 years.

Compulsary Standard Insurance
$12.28 /day. with an excess/bond of $657.89 for drivers over 25 years, $877.19 for drivers of 21 to 24 years. A credit card imprint of the bond is sufficient. Maximum charge per $614.04 per hire.

Tyre and Winscreen Cover
A Tyre & Windscreen insurance of $5.26 -/day extra is available with this option. Maximum charge $263.16 - per hire.

Insurance Option 1 ( Full cover / Liability / Damage Waiver )
$28.07 - per day will reduce the excess/bond for any vehicle to $87.72 ( $219.30 for drivers 21 to 24 years). Includes cover for all damages (including overhead & underbody damages), compulsory standard insurance and tyre and windscreen cover. Maximum charge $1,403.51 per hire.

Exclusions
Unless tyre and windscreen cover is purchased, the hirer will be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres.

Vehicle Pick-up & Return
Wendekreisen operates depots in Auckland & Christchurch. All pick ups and returns should be made to one of these.
On special request Wendekreisen can arrange pick up & return of vehicles in Wellington or Picton. A relocation fee of $219.30 applies.When you collect the vehicle, the vehicle will be shown to you and all functions explained. Please ask any questions you may have at this time.

Depot Business Hour
Monday to Saturday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (08:30 - 17:00) local time.
Sunday / Public Holidays: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm (08:30 - 13:00)
Pick ups or returns outside of business hours are available on request. There is a charge of $43.86 - for after hour's vehicle collection. Late returns are invoiced on a daily basis.
Hirers are advised to arrange for accomodation before and after the hire period.

Airport Transfers & Vehicle delivery
Wendekreisen offers a complimentary transfer between airports and our depots.

Auckland: Please advise your arrival details. After your arrival at Auckland Airport, please call us on our freephone numbers 0508 243 298 (Depot) or 0508 109 328 (Sales) and await our representative in front of the Departure Terminal at Gate 3. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to our depot. The cost of approx. $17.54 will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided.

If you spend the first night at a hotel near Auckland Airport, please ring us on our freephone numbers 0508 243 298 or 0508 109 328 to organize a transfer. Please await our driver in front of your hotel. Taxi or shuttle costs from the city will be refunded up to a maximum of $26.32 if a receipt is provided. We recommend to prebook your transfer to our depot the night before with "Discount - Taxi" Ph: (09) 529 1000) and call us to advise your arrival time at the depot.

Christchurch: Please advise your arrival details. After your arrival at the airport or your hotel, please ring our depot to organize pick up and await our agent in front of the terminal or your hotel. The phone number is (03) 357 4153. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to our depot. The cost of approx. $17.54 will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided.


One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available between all branch locations at no extra charge but must be prebooked at time of booking.

Change of Pick Up or Return Location
A change of pick up or return destination is subject to availability. If the hirer wishes to change the pick up or return destination after the booking has been confirmed, before or after the rental has commenced, they must obtain approval from Wendekreisen Travel. A relocation fee will apply if approval from Wendekreisen is not sought or granted.

Returning Vehicles
Vehicles have to be returned on the date, place and time as shown on the contract. Late returns will result in extra charges.

The hirer is obliged to return the vehicle :

  • With the fuel level that is marked on the damage sheet.
  • In a reasonable clean condition.
  • With empty holding tank and toilet.
  • Extra charges apply should these obligations be ignored.

Payments
To confirm a booking a non-refundable deposit of $263.16 is required to process the reservation. The balance of the total rental cost is due 30 days prior to commencement of the hire.

Child Seat / Booster Seat - $21.93 - per hire

GPS ( Tom Tom ) - $4.39- per day with minimum hire of 15 days $65.79 and a maximum capped charge at 50 days $219.30, system must be be pre-booked to ensure availability at time of pick up.

Security Bond
The security bond is equal to the excess amount under the insurance option chosen (see above). A credit card imprint is sufficient for these purposes. If paid in cash or by traveler cheque, the security bond will be refunded at the end of hire according to the conditions below.

Security Bond Refunds
The bond will not be charged on return of the vehicle provided that:

  • The vehicle is returned to the agreed location at the agreed time
  • No damage is incurred to the vehicle or any 3rd party property
  • Waste water tank and toilet have been emptied
  • No items belonging to Wendekreisen Travel have been lost or damaged
  • All traffic fines have been paid
  • The vehicle is returned in a reasonably clean condition
  • The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. If paying by credit card an imprint will be taken, but the account will not be debited if all of the above conditions are met.


Travel Insurance
In New Zealand personal injury is covered by the Accident Compensation Commission, however, Wendekreisen strongly recommends that all clients take out Personal Travel Insurance.

Restricted Roads
Vehicles can only be driven on sealed or well-maintained roads. No vehicle can be taken on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Rental Period Extension
A hire extension is subject to availaibility and authorisation from Wendekreisen Travel. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.

Breakdowns and Mechanical Failure
In the event of mechanical problems, the hirer should contact Wendekreisen Travel as soon as possible by calling the free phone number provided. The Wendekreisen help desk will direct you to the closest service center.

Repair Approval
Repairs of up to $50.00 may be made without authorisation and will be reimbursed, provided that all receipts are submitted and the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Amounts above $43.86 require approval from Wendekreisen Travel.

No responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown unless it has been approved by Wendekreisen Travel. Our liability extends only to refund of rental charges for any days of total loss of vehicle usage caused by a mechanical breakdown, provided the hirer notifies Wendekreisen Travel as soon as possible to give us the opportunity to rectify the problem.

Subsitute Vehicles
We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund. Should this not be possible, we will refund each full day of the hire that is lost.

CANCELLATION FEES

Up to 31 days prior to pickup 20%
31 - 15 days prior to pickup 25% of rental costs. (Mimumum $200 )
14 - 7 days prior to pickup 50% of rental costs. (Mimumum $200 )
6 - 0 days prior to pickup / or No Show 100% of rental costs.
Amendment fee for each amendment $30 / $60 after docsuments are issued
